PUNE: The NIBM Road, Kausarbaugh, NIBM – Undri Road, and Kondhwa areas have been grappling with relentless power outages over the past weeks. Frustrated residents have been voicing their concerns, urging the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL) to swiftly address the issue. Notably, this is not the first time NIBM residents have faced such recurring power disruptions.

Zainab Hatim, residing on NIBM Road, shared her exasperation, stating, “It’s become a daily routine: electricity goes off in the mornings and returns in the afternoons. It’s absurd that despite hefty bills, the complaint center remains unresponsive.”

Akhilesh Singh, a Rose Parade society resident said, “Power cuts have become very common now. The officials have a stereotyped answer. The calls on the helpline numbers go unanswered. We are hoping that we should get uninterrupted power supply.”

Leena, another resident, from Konark Indrayu Enclave 2 lamented, “We’ve already invested significantly in inverters and alternatives. However, it’s unreasonable for power to falter so frequently, especially given our diligent bill payments.”

Parikshit Shah, a Konark Indrayu resident expressed, “Utility providers are obliged to ensure consistent supply. Occasional outages can be understood, but this level of disruption is unacceptable. Private providers like Tata Power, BEST, and Adani ensure minimal disruptions in Mumbai.”

Vispi Karkaria, a resident of Nivedita Garden said, “Power cut is a common phenomenon. There is no schedule as such. It goes off during the day time and even after midnight hours. How are people supposed to work in such situations. There are many who work in night shifts who suffer because of this.”

Nishikant Raut, MSEDCL Pune’s Public Relations Officer, attributed the issue to rain, saying, “The frequent power outages are a result of the rain. We have assessed the situation and are actively working to prevent further inconvenience to residents. A lasting solution will be implemented to avert recurrent power disruptions. The recent issue was related to the breaker and it was resolved.”

As NIBM residents await a resolution to their power predicament, MSEDCL’s assurance of a permanent fix brings a glimmer of hope for uninterrupted electricity supply in the future.
