PUNE: A chaotic scene unfolded at midnight on the Mohammadwadi road near Nyati Estate and Nyati Ambience society, as a group of over 50 bikers and two cars caused a disruptive ruckus. The resulting noise levels were so high and intolerable that residents endured a sleepless night, deeply affected by the disturbance.

Numerous reports from the scene indicate that the bikers, predominantly youths, engaged in activities such as setting off fireworks and persistently blaring horns, generating incessant and loud commotion.

Alka Nair, a concerned resident of Nyati Ambience, expressed her dismay, sharing, “Last night, a group of bikers behind DPS school created havoc with their excessively noisy bikes. We are hoping that such incidents do not repeat. The noise started around 12.30 midnight and went on which was causing severe irritation to the residents.”

Vandana Choppella, resident of the Nyati Estate society, recounted the disturbance, revealing, “At the Mohamadwadi chowk near Avani society on the Nyati Estate side road, it seemed that more than 50 bikes and two cars had congregated, generating excessive noise. Our efforts to reach the police through repeated messages to the control room were in vain. For the residents, it was indeed a nightmarish experience.”

Deepa Cheema, the founder of Nyati County Residents Forum, expressed her frustration, stating, “Despite conveying this issue to a senior official, a lasting resolution remains elusive. While police intervention temporarily quelled the disturbance, it later resumed. The chronic noise disruption in Mohammadwadi has persisted for several years.”

When approached for comments, police officials were unavailable for a response, leaving the residents of Mohammadwadi grappling with the aftermath of the unsettling episode.
