Pune News: Gangadham To Shatrunjay Mandir Road Faces Major Traffic Issues Due To Construction
Pune, August 26, 2024 – Commuters traveling between Gangadham and Shatrunjay Mandir Road are facing significant traffic problems and safety concerns due to ongoing construction. Despite restrictions on heavy vehicles, large trucks continue to use the route, causing severe traffic jams and risking the safety of other road users.
For several months, road work has been underway between Pasalkar Chowk and ShreeJi Lawns. As a result, all traffic has been diverted through the PG KEM School and Hanuman Chowk area. This diversion has led to severe congestion, with a journey of just one kilometer taking at least 20 minutes.
The affected road is surrounded by offices, schools, and residential areas, leading to increased inconvenience for local residents. The situation has remained unchanged for nearly a year, causing frustration among the community. Residents and the principal of PG KEM School have expressed their grievances to many authorities urging the administration to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
Further compounding the problem, two roads leading to the Iskcon Temple in Kondhwa from the Gangadham area have been closed for the past eight months for pipeline installation and concreting. The slow progress has caused significant disruption, particularly for schoolchildren who are bearing the brunt of the civic body’s inaction. Despite multiple meetings between citizens, PMC officials, and political representatives, no solution has been reached.
Atul Jain of the Kondhwa Development Forum has also voiced concerns, calling for urgent measures to address the ongoing traffic and safety issues.
