Pune News : Halt construction activities during nighttime, demands Shirole

Pune: Speaking during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s winter session on Thursday, Shivaji Nagar MLA Siddharth Shirole demanded construction regulations (SOPs) for Pune city. 

As per information, construction work, especially during night time has become a concern for Pune People especially kids and senior citizens. Thus, Shirole highlighted the absence of municipal regulations on construction hours and called for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to establish guidelines.

As per further information from the X handle of Siddharth Shirole “In the ongoing winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, Shivajinagar Constituency MLA Siddharth Shirole demanded regulations (SOP) for all construction works in Pune City.”

The post further stated, ‘Pune is expanding rapidly, and construction activities are booming at an unprecedented rate throughout the city. Construction work, especially during nighttime, has become a pressing concern for local residents, senior citizens, and children. It was brought to my notice that Pune Municipal Corporation has not established specific regulations regarding permissible hours for construction work, despite directives from the Supreme Court.

Despite Supreme Court orders restricting construction to 8 am to 10 pm, Shirole pointed out the ongoing disregard for these directives during the Assembly session.There is also a lack of guidelines on the precautions and care needed to ensure minimal disturbance to the surrounding citizens during these activities.’

The tweet further said, ‘To mitigate these issues and safeguard citizens from inconvenience, I have urged the assembly to direct the Pune Municipal Corporation to promptly formulate and enforce comprehensive construction regulations.”
