Pune – A major altercation broke out in a Pune society after a young boy called a girl ‘samosa’ as a joke. The incident led to the girl’s father assaulting the 9-year-old boy, causing him to lose consciousness. The boy was later found to have sustained injuries, including swelling in his eardrum and right jaw. The father has since been charged by the police.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Chattuhshringi Police Station, specifically in a society in the Aundh area of Pune, on August 15th during a midday Independence Day event. The society was celebrating the day with a program, and during the food distribution, the children were playing around.
According to reports, the boy referred to a girl as ‘samosa,’ which led the girl to scratch his hand in retaliation. In response, the boy kicked a nearby plastic trash bin towards the girl. The girl’s father witnessed this and, in a fit of anger, struck the boy on the right side of his head. The impact left the boy stunned, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
After a few moments, the boy regained consciousness and, crying, returned home. Upon seeing their son in distress, the parents inquired about what had happened. The boy recounted the entire incident, leading his parents to confront the girl’s father. The father defended his actions by stating that the boy had insulted his daughter and thrown a trash bin towards her, which led to his reaction.
Following the incident, the boy’s mother filed a complaint against the girl’s father at the Chattuhshringi Police Station. The father has been charged, and the boy is currently receiving treatment at Sassoon Hospital.
