Pimpri: A crucial step towards easing traffic congestion in Pimpri Chinchwad is now nearing completion, as the Municipal Corporation accelerates work on the missing link road connecting Auto Cluster (Kalewadi Phata) to the Commissioner’s residence via the Indolink Eurocity industrial area on Dehu-Alandi Road. The project, which will allow for seamless vehicle movement without diversions, is in its final phase and will be completed soon after the remaining land is handed over by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

Once operational, this road will significantly improve connectivity between Kalewadi Phata and Dehu-Alandi Road, especially benefiting PMPML bus routes and daily commuters. The project includes road widening, upgradation, water pipeline installation, street lighting, and other improvements necessary for ensuring smooth and safe traffic movement.

As part of the initiative, Pune-based consultancy firm “MAPS Global Civiltech Pvt. Ltd.” was selected exclusively for post-tender project consultancy through an e-quotation process held in January–February 2025. The firm quoted the lowest rates and was issued a Letter of Intent, following which work commenced in February. To avoid delays, the firm was granted immediate permission to begin on-ground work while administrative formalities were completed in parallel. Quality and timely delivery have been kept as top priorities for this project.

The consultancy is responsible for comprehensive project planning, supervision, quality assurance, and technical guidance. They have also been instructed to ensure efficient traffic management, pedestrian safety, environmental safeguards, and structured progress reporting at every stage. At present, a 30-meter-wide stretch of the road has been developed and opened temporarily for vehicular traffic. Full-capacity usage will begin once MIDC completes the handover of the remaining land.

“The sustainable and planned development of Pimpri Chinchwad is our top priority. The development of the missing link road in the Indolink Eurocity area is a major step towards that goal. This project is critical for providing citizens with safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation infrastructure. With strict adherence to quality and timelines, this initiative will significantly improve traffic flow and positively impact the daily lives of residents.”

“The missing link road passing through the Indolink Eurocity industrial area near Auto Cluster and the Commissioner’s residence is of immense importance from a traffic management perspective. The project includes road widening, water supply systems, street lighting, and other vital improvements. With the support of the appointed consultancy, detailed planning has been done and the work is progressing steadily. A high-level meeting with the CEO of MIDC was held at the end of March to expedite the land handover process. MIDC has assured that the remaining land will be vacated soon. The project deadline is set for January 2026, but efforts are underway to complete and open the road fully for public use ahead of schedule.”
