Once again, there has been a sudden and significant change in weather patterns across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert for heavy rainfall in 17 states.

A cyclonic circulation has formed over several parts of the country, including North India, which is likely to result in thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain. IMD has alerted 17 states, warning of intense rainfall with thunderstorm activity. In some areas, hailstorms are also likely.

According to the IMD, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are expected to receive heavy rain along with snowfall. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also likely to witness intense rainfall over the next two days, accompanied by lightning and stormy winds, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h.

In Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, cloudy conditions will prevail, and rainfall is expected. However, in Delhi, although the skies will remain overcast, there is no forecast of rain.

Heavy Rain Likely in Eastern India

The IMD has also issued rain alerts for Eastern India. Over the next five days, heavy rainfall is expected in states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura. An extremely heavy rainfall alert has been issued specifically for April 22.

Rain Predicted in Southern India Too
The weather department has also forecasted heavy rain for parts of South India. Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu are likely to experience significant rainfall.

Heatwave Conditions in Maharashtra
On the other hand, Maharashtra is expected to face a heatwave. Temperatures in several districts have crossed 40°C. In Vidarbha, the mercury has risen sharply, with Chandrapur recording the highest temperature at 45.6°C. Authorities have issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
