Pune News: Madhuri Misal Vows Transparent Review Of Pimpri-Chinchwad Draft Development Plan
Mumbai, July 2 – The Development Plan (DP) of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is currently in the stage of receiving objections and suggestions. Minister of State Madhuri Misal assured the Legislative Council that no individual will be wronged under this plan.
She was responding to a calling attention motion raised by Council Member Amit Gorkhe regarding the new draft DP of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Members Satej Patil, Shrikant Bharatiya, Sachin Ahire, Uma Khapre, Shashikant Shinde, and Satyajit Mohite Patil also participated in the discussion.
Minister Misal stated that the government reserves the right to amend or even cancel the DP at the final stage, if necessary. She added that the draft has been prepared after surveying key elements such as population, area, and usage density. Around 30,000 objections and suggestions have been received on the DP, all of which are being thoroughly heard by the Town Planning Department. Based on these hearings, suitable modifications will be proposed before finalizing the plan.
She emphasized that if any citizen or elected representative points out flaws or injustice in the plan, the government has full authority to revoke it.
Highlighting the importance of an approved development plan for the orderly growth of a city, Minister Misal said the approval process is crucial. However, she stressed that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the plan is balanced and just through active citizen participation before final approval.
The DP process for Pimpri-Chinchwad — a city with significant future development potential — is now at a decisive stage, she said. Citizens, organizations, and representatives have time until July 14 to submit their feedback. Minister Misal urged residents to actively engage to help shape a fair and inclusive development plan.
