Pune News : NCP Pune city president Prashant Jagtap shows willingness to contest Lok Sabha by-polls

Prashant Jagtap, president, Pune City, Nationalist Congress Party posted a video on social media showing his willingness in contesting the Lok Sabha by-polls, as the LS seat is lying vacant due to demise of Girish Bapat.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Pune Girish Bapat passed away due to prolonged illness on March 29, 2023. The seat of Pune Lok Sabha constituency is presently vacant and by-polls may be held in the coming few months. Jagtap in the video shared on social media stated that he may contest the elections if the party leaders announce his candidature. He further said that there has been no such communication from the party yet. Prashant Jagtap is the former corporator from Wanowrie ward and has also been the Mayor of Pune in 2016-17.

His video posted on the social media platform stated that the sudden demise of Girish Bapat left everyone in shock. He said, “The party had decided not to discuss anything related to elections until all the rituals are over. But today a poster went viral and created the buzz about me contesting the Lok Sabha elections. The party workers are keen and excited to see me contesting the elections but there has been no such confirmed news on this yet. But, if the party is willing to give me the chance, I would be happy to contest it.”
