Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced the development of major roads and the construction of a new bridge over the Pavana River to enhance connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the city.

Under this project, the 24-meter-wide DP Road from Madhuban Hotel to Indira Road, spanning 1,420 meters, and the 18-meter-wide DP Road from Silver Spoon Hotel to Indira Road, Wakad stretching 1,120 meters, will be concretized. Additionally, an 18-meter-wide connecting road up to Wakad Shiv will also be developed. The project includes provisions for pedestrian-friendly footpaths, organized parking, efficient stormwater drainage, a road divider, and a dedicated cycling track. The total cost of this road development initiative is estimated at ₹58.45 crore.

In another significant move, a 90-meter-long bridge will be constructed over the Pavana River to connect Mamurdi and Sangwade. The project will be executed jointly by PCMC and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The bridge will improve accessibility between Mamurdi, Kiwale, Ravet, and Punawale on one side and Sangwade and Hinjewadi on the other. Considering the rapid urbanization and industrial growth in these areas, the bridge will be 15 meters wide, along with connecting roads. This initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion at Bhumkar Chowk and benefit residents, businesses, farmers, and students. The bridge construction will cost ₹37.25 crore.

The foundation stone for both projects was laid today, marking a significant step in PCMC’s infrastructure development plans.
