Pune News: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Seize 218 Opium Plants Hidden In Onion Field, Farmer Arrested

Pimpri-Chinchwad: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Pimpri-Chinchwad police seized 218 opium plants secretly cultivated within an onion field in the Dehu Road area. The illegal crop was discovered at Kalokhe Mala and Hagwane Mala, leading to the arrest of Dilip Chandrakant Kalokhe from Kalokhe Vasti.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode, officers Kishor Pardeshi and Javed Bagasiraz received a tip-off about the narcotic cultivation in the area. Acting swiftly, the police conducted a raid and found the opium plants hidden among onion crops, with the plants already bearing flowers and pods.

The seized opium, valued at â‚¹3.27 lakh, was confiscated, and legal action was initiated against the accused. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil, along with Assistant Inspector Sachin Kadam and a team of officers, including Kishor Pardeshi, Javed Bagasiraz, Mayur Wadkar, Shilpa Kamble, and Rajendra Bamble.
