Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that it is making eight parking lots across the city free for citizens. The move comes after the tenders of contractors present at the parking lots were cancelled due to complaints from citizens regarding overcharging and other issues.

According to PMC rates, two-wheelers are charged ₹2 per hour, while four-wheelers are charged ₹10 per hour. However, the possession of the parking lots from the contractors has been taken away, and the lots have been made available to citizens free of charge until the tender process is completed.

The eight parking lots where citizens can avail free parking are located at Peshwa Park in Sadashiv Peth, Energy Udyan, Navloba Parking lot, Pu La Deshpande Garden at Sinhagad Road, near Decision tower at Bibvewadi, Saibaba Temple at Gultekdi, near Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, and Katraj Dairy.

Abhijit Ambekar, executive engineer of the project department, PMC said, “The Municipal Corporation has decided to make this parking lot available free of charge until the tender process is completed. The concerned regional office should be contacted for the cleaning and repair work of the parking lot.”

To ensure the smooth functioning of the parking lots, junior engineers, clerks, and typists have been appointed for their inspection. Additionally, a similar board has been installed at each parking lot to inform citizens about the free parking facility.
