Pune News : PMC Property Tax Website Crashes : Payments halted

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporatiom website, which allows citizens to make online payments for their pending property tax, experienced technical difficulties on Monday. 

This issue arose as many citizens hurried to make their payments on the last day to avail themselves of the discount.

To incentivize timely payments, the PMC announced a discount of 5 to 10 percent on the total tax amount for citizens who made payments for their residential property tax between May 15 and July 31. 

During this period, the PMC received tax payments totaling over Rs 1,100 crore. However, due to the technical problem on the PMC website, many tax payers were unable to make their payments before the discount scheme ends on Monday.

The PMC officials are prioritising the resolution of the problem to enable citizens to make payments and take advantage of the discount scheme. Reports indicate that a similar issue occurred last year when a large number of citizens rushed to make payments on the final day of the scheme.
