Pune, March 12, 2025 – The recent renovation work at the Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool in Wanowrie has come under criticism, with swimmers alleging that the repairs were of substandard quality despite significant expenditure by the municipal corporation.

Last year, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) invited tenders for the pool’s repair, spending lakhs on modern filtration systems. However, questions have been raised about their efficiency.

Swimmers have complained of frequent water shortages due to a non-functional borewell motor, incomplete painting work, poorly maintained showers, substandard doors and latches, and leaking faucets in the washrooms.

Additionally, the changing area lacks designated spaces or lockers for storing clothes. The handrails around the pool are broken, and the open shower and bathroom areas are in a state of disrepair. Uneven checker tiles make walking difficult, and there is no provision for drinking water at the facility.

Frustrated with the poor maintenance, regular visitors have urged the municipal authorities to inspect the premises and take immediate steps to ensure quality repairs. They have also demanded strict action against contractors responsible for the subpar work.
