Pune News : Pune Police nabs person from Ganj Peth selling smartphones in Jharkhand

Pune: Pune Police on Tuesday arrested a person during patrolling in the Ganj Peth area for selling stolen mobile phones in Jharkhand at cheaper rates.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Suresh Shinde, Police Inspector, at Samarth Police Station said, “The accused is identified as Kundankumar Arjun Mahato. He used to visit Pune and Mumbai by bus or train from Jharkhand and steal mobile phones in crowded places. The accused then used to take them back to Jharkhand and sell them at cheaper rates.”

As per information from Shinde, police constables Rohidas Waghire and Jitendra Pawar while patrolling in the Ganj Peth area, received a tip-off that a suspect was standing suspiciously at a fish market in Ganj Peth. The police officers immediately went to the fish market and detained the suspected accused.

The police have seized 29 smartphones worth Rs 5 lakh 9 thousand from his possession. A case has been registered against Mahato under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police are further investigating the case.
