Pune News: Residents Protest Against Illegal Construction And Missing Amenities In Ganga Ishanya Housing Society In DhankawadiÂ
The Ganga Ishanya Housing Society consists of three buildings, including ABC, housing 900-1000 residents across 262 flats. This project, initiated by Mahanagar Realty in 2011, completed the construction of these buildings by 2018-2019. However, without the consent of the flat owners, the developer altered the layout for their benefit, canceling promised amenities like a tennis court and bowling alley, and reducing a planned 18-meter road to 12 meters. In collusion with Pune Municipal Corporation officials, they approved an illegal plan to construct the Nakshatra building on this space. Additionally, they concealed a 9-meter DP road from the city’s development plan to gain approval.
“In response, we filed a Writ Petition in the Mumbai High Court against these illegal activities. On 08/06/2023, the court ordered the Pune Municipal Commissioner to investigate. Although the hearing took place on 24/07/2023, the Commissioner has yet to issue a verdict, allegedly due to pressure from the builder,” said a resident.
Another resident informed that even after PMC officials visit there has been no progress. We are fighting for our rights. We have invested our hard earned money into this property and now the builder is not responding, as according to him he has built a project which is cleared by the civic authorities.
The construction of Nakshatra is entirely illegal and violates the rights of flat owners in the AB and eight other buildings, creating strain on amenities and making life difficult for existing residents. We are uniting to submit a formal complaint to the Pune Municipal Commissioner against these injustices.
