Pune News : Road between Shivar Chowk and Chhattrapati Chowk in Pimple Saudagar to be revamped soon

Pune: The road from Shiwar Chowk to Chhatrapati Chowk on Kunal Icon Road in Pimple Saudagar will soon be revamped.
As per the information, a meeting was held on Friday with the concerned Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Construction (PCMC) officers and the consulting company. In this work, the entire existing drainage line and storm water line will be laid. It will take 1 to 1.5 years for this work. Due to high traffic on this route, the work will be carried out in two phases and new temporary alternatives will also be provided for the traffic so that the citizens do not suffer.
During this meeting, the officers of the construction project department of the concerned road, Executive Engineer Sandhya Wagh, Deputy Engineer Sanjay Kashid, Consultant of Infra Consultant Company Laxmikant Patnge, Ranjit Kolhe and other employees were present.
Nana Kate, Ex Corporator, Pimple Saudagar, said “The entire planning for the construction & refurbishment of the road is done. Tendering process is going on. Consultants have been appointed for this. Now, we are waiting for the rainy season to end as, if tarring work is done, it will get washed away entirely by rain water. So, after rainy season, the construction & refurbishment work of the entire road will begin & will be completed soon.”
Shatrughna Kate, Ex Corporator, Pimple Saudagar, said “The tendering process is going on for the 1700 meter stretch for the refurbishing of Kunal Icon Road to Shiwar Chowk to Chhatrapati Chowk. Now, the method of the work is getting finalized as to whether the road must be created by using tar or other. Even integrated parking spaces on both sides of the roads of 2.5 meters each has been planned. After finalizing everything, the work will begin immediately. Till then, we are urging & making people aware to avoid commuting from this road till it gets fully refurbished.”
Nirmala Kute, Ex Corporator, Pimple Saudagar said “It is good that the work of Kunal Icon Road to Shiwar chowk to Chhatrapati Chowk is planned. However, before starting that work, the road near Army boundaries must be made open for smooth traffic flow. Around 17 to 18 residential societies are there from Shiwar Chowk to Lakshadeep Society. The front gate of those societies opens at Kunal Icon Road whereas the back gate opens at the road near Army boundaries. 90 to 95% of the work of that road is already done. Hence, firstly, that road must be made open as, if the entire traffic of those 17 to 18 residential societies is diverted to that road, the burden on the current Kunal Icon Road to Shiwar Chowk to Chhatrapati Yuva Chowk will be reduced significantly & traffic flow would remain smooth.”
