Pune: Regional Transport Office(RTO) has marked a significant milestone in the revenue generation in the financial year 2022-23. The Pune RTO office has been leading in revenue generation for the past few years, and this year, it has achieved a new high by earning ₹1,524 crores, surpassing its target of ₹1,377.30 crores.

In the previous financial year, 2021-22, Pune RTO had earned ₹1,073 crores in revenue. However, in the financial year 2022-23, the income has increased to ₹1,524 crores, indicating a substantial growth of ₹451 crores.

The significant increase in revenue can be attributed to the huge number of vehicles in Pune city, which has contributed to higher vehicle registration, license fees, and other charges. The Pune RTO office has received this income through fees, vehicle inspection charges, fines levied by Bharari teams and other sources.

Ajit Shinde, RTO officer, attributed the increase in revenue to the resurgence in vehicle purchases after a two-year slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He stated, “After two years of Covid, people have started buying new vehicles again, and the number of new vehicle registrations has significantly increased. This has contributed to the majority of the revenue generated by the RTO.
