Pune News : Sangvi traffic police takes action against private vehicles using BRT routes

Sangvi: Sangvi Traffic Department in Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has taken stern action against private vehicles plying on BRT routes under a special drive initiated by Vinay Kumar Choubey, Deputy Commissioner of Police. The drive aims to curb traffic violations and ensure compliance with traffic rules and regulations.

The police team took action against private vehicles coming from BRT in Sangvi Transport Division under the Motor Vehicle Act at Rakshak Chowk and Pimple Saudagar BRT Lane on February 15. The team was guided by the Police Commissioner, Traffic Branch, Pimpri Chinchwad.

As part of the special drive, fines amounting to ₹1,39,000 have been levied on 64 private vehicles with unpaid fines. Additionally, during the period from February 1 to February 14, under the special campaign, the maximum number of cases has been filed under the Motor Vehicle Act.

A total of 950 private vehicles coming from BRT were fined ₹6,36,000, 77 cases on vehicles coming from no-entry and a fine of &6,8,600 were charged and cases penalty amount on total 140 vehicles with black glass/black film was ₹ 149,000. Furthermore, a total of 1931 vehicles with unpaid fines amounting to ₹13,87,750 have been recovered.

Officials of the Sangvi Traffic Department have taken these actions, and they plan to continue to take strict measures against drivers who violate traffic rules on a daily basis under the Motor Vehicle Act. They have also urged citizens to follow traffic rules to avoid any such penalties or fines.
