Pune: The ongoing work of the metro in Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk and the surrounding area has caused frequent traffic jams, leading to inconvenience for residents and commuters. In response to this situation, an order was issued on 8th February 2023 by the local authorities to change the traffic in and around the area.

However, with a V.I.P. visiting Pune and considering the traffic situation in Chatushringi, Shivajinagar, and Khadki traffic sections, it has become necessary to improve traffic on Ganeshkhind Road. In this regard, the Government of Maharashtra’s Home Department has issued an order to divert traffic on Ganeshkhind Road, postponing the earlier order issued on 8th February 2023.

The order has been issued by Vijaykumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Transport Branch, Pune City, exercising the right vested in him under Sections 115, 116(1)(a)(b), 116(4), and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The decision to divert traffic on Ganeshkhind Road has been taken in view of the V.I.P. visit and to ease the traffic situation in Chatushringi, Shivajinagar, and Khadki traffic sections. The order is expected to be effective for some time, and the traffic will be diverted on Ganeshkhind Road until the situation in the other traffic sections improves.

The authorities have urged commuters to follow the new traffic arrangements and cooperate with the police in this regard. The local administration has also assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on Ganeshkhind Road and to minimize inconvenience to commuters.
