Pune News: Skeleton Found In Canal Near Empress Garden, Investigation Underway
Pune police have launched an investigation after a human skeleton was found in a canal near Empress Garden. The discovery was made by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) workers while clearing the canal following the immersion of Ganesh idols. The skeleton was located near the immersed idols.
According to the police, a rock was tied to the wrist of the skeleton, likely to keep it submerged in the water.
Sanjay Patange, Senior Police Inspector at Wanawadi Police Station, stated on the issue: “Three days ago, a human skeleton, with only bones remaining, was found in the canal next to Empress Garden. It is likely that the person to whom this skeleton belonged died at least a month and a half ago. Since the body was in water, all the flesh may have been eaten by aquatic animals. The skeleton has been sent to the medical school for further examination. Due to water being released into the canal during the Ganpati festival, the skeleton was carried along. A formal request has been made to the medical authorities to determine whether the skeleton belongs to a human or an animal.”
The authorities are working to uncover further details about the case.
