Pune News : Swatantra Theatre Presents Jhalkiyaan, a programme based on Munshi Premchand Stories

To commemorate Munshi Premchand’s 143 Birth Anniversary, Swatantra Theater will present a unique form of Theatrical presentation- Jhalkiyan – based on Munshi Premchand’s stories.

Undoubtedly, the first name that comes to our mind whenever we discuss or talk about Hindi Literature is that of Munshi Premchand – a person who single-handedly raised the level of the Hindustani Literature to several new heights. Interestingly, Munshi Premchand is such a persona that he is widely regarded as ‘Williams Shakespeare’ of the Hindustani/Hindi Literature. 

Dhanpat Rai Srivastava, better known by his pen name ‘Premchand’ is the greatest Indian writer who is known for his modern Hindustani literature. About 18 Urdu and Hindi Novels, more than 300 short stories, 3 plays to his credit along with 7 books for children and many essays, translations, column writing,screenplay writing along with the screenplay for the film Majdoor released in year 1934.

To pay tribute to the writer who is an asset to our Country a unique performance will be presented. There are stories written by Premchand which will be read out and simultaneously few scenes will be enacted to give the entire piece an audio and visual experience.Flashes of breathtaking stories in some interesting scene work, that’s why Jhalkiyaan will be a unique experience.

 Miss Padma , Bade Ghar Ki Beti and Budhi Kaki will be performed and read in ‘Jhalkiyaan’.
