Pune News : MSEDCL Cable Causes Burn Injuries to 12 yr old Pimple Saudagar resident and her father

Pune: A shocking incident took place when a live electricity wire fell on a father daughter duo near Laxmi DharamShala in Pimpri while they were riding their two-wheeler vehicle on July 25.  

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sameer Lonkar, one of the victims and a resident of Pimple Saudagar said, “On July 25, at around 7:50 am, me and my daughter Shaurya were travelling on my two wheeler vehicle. When we came near Laxmi DharamShala in Pimpri, a live electric wire fell on us causing injuries to both of us. We lost balance and fell from the vehicle. My daughter has suffered burns on her cheek when the hot wire came in contact with her. I sustained burns on the palm while attempting to move the live wire away from me and my daughter while we both were lying on the road helpless. Even my raincoat is torn.”

Nishikant Raut, Public Relations Officer, MSEDCL Pune said, “We were not aware about this incident and are very sorry that it happened. We have noted the location & will send our officers immediately to the area to remove the fallen wire.”

Sameer Lonkar has requested the authorities to take the following measure:

1. Conduct a thorough inspection of the electricity infrastructure in the area to identify and address any potential risks or faults that could lead to similar incidents in the future.

2. Ensure that the damaged electricity pole and wire are promptly repaired or replaced with due regard to safety standards.

3. Provide appropriate medical assistance and support to the injured victims, covering all necessary medical expenses for their recovery.

4. Assess any other damages caused by the falling wire and provide necessary assistance to those affected.

5. Hold those responsible for the maintenance of the electricity infrastructure accountable and take necessary disciplinary action if any negligence or lack of maintenance is found.

Nana Kate, Corporator of Pimple Saudagar said, ” I was informed about the issue and have further conveyed it to the MSEDCL officials for further action.”
