Pune News: Traffic police arrested for accepting bribe

A traffic police officer was arrested by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Pune for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a sand carrier.
The accused has been identified as Samadhan Lokhande (39), who works for the Pimpri Chinchwad police’s Bavdhan traffic division.
On Thursday, a formal complaint was filed in this respect at the Hinjawadi police station. The complainant in this instance, according to the ACB, is in the business of using goods carrier vehicles to transport sand and other materials.
According to an ACB press statement, the accused Lokhande reportedly sought Rs 5,000 in exchange for letting his five trucks transfer the substance without facing any legal consequences.
Following a complaint in this respect, the staff of ACB set up a trap and, while taking the money, apprehended Lokhande.
