Residents and commuters on Kalwad Road in Dhanori are facing mounting distress and inconvenience due to the daily dumping of garbage in the area. The pervasive stench and unhygienic conditions have become a persistent problem, leaving people frustrated with the lack of action from the authorities.

Ashish Jakkillu, an office owner on Kalwad Road, expressed his concern about the garbage issue, which is located near his friend’s residence. Despite repeated requests to refrain from dumping garbage in the area, people continue to dispose of waste, resulting in foul smells that permeate the surroundings. Complaints to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have been met with inadequate responses, leaving the situation unresolved.

Ranjeet Rathod, a resident of Kalwad Wasti, has been grappling with the garbage problem for several years. His house is situated right next to the dumping spot, which is not designated for waste disposal. Despite numerous requests to the PMC to address the issue, garbage dumping persists, causing an ongoing nuisance to the residents.

Rakesh Pharne, another office owner on Kalwad Road, corroborated the complaints, highlighting the daily accumulation of garbage and the resulting stench that affects everyone in the vicinity. The lack of action from PMC or other relevant authorities to resolve the situation has only added to the residents’ frustration.

Bhalchandra Ovhal, a PMC official responsible for the Dhanori area, offered a response, stating that the PMC’s garbage collection vehicles pick up waste from Kalwad Road daily. However, it is evident that the current efforts have not been sufficient in curbing the problem of unauthorized dumping and the subsequent stench.

The issue of garbage dumping in Dhanori calls for immediate attention and action from the authorities. The unpleasant conditions are not only affecting the residents’ quality of life but also pose potential health and environmental hazards. It is essential for the PMC to take proactive steps to address the problem, enforce proper waste disposal practices, and ensure regular cleaning of the area to alleviate the distress faced by Dhanori residents.
