A Wagholi resident A K Mishra, who has been raising voice against the inadequate facilities provided by Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA) was fined for installing illegal boards in the area.

He was sent a notice to pay fine of Rs 73,000 for installing 73 boards in the area which are criticising the inadequate facilities provided by the civic administration. PMC on February 20, took action against A K Mishra and fined him for installing boards calling people to participate in the Virat Jan Aandolan on February 26.

When Pune Pulse spoke to him he said, “The notice is wrongly sent to me for installing 73 posters. Infact, I have printed only 50, out of which there are more than 12 posters which are still not installed. Also, these posters have been installed within the society premises, club houses, garden area and not in any public area. He said there are several other illegal flex, posters in the area which are defacing the city and are facing no action. My posters are making people aware about the issues plaguing us. Each flex has been fined Rs 1000, 73 posters have been fined.”

The activists from Wagholi on condition of anonymity stated that this is putting pressure on me to take back the protest. This act by the administration will not put my morale down. But, I am right in my way of raising issues of Wagholi and making them heard to the civic administration. PMC should show the calculation on which they have sent the letter demanding money from me to pay as fine. Wagholi in the last few months has seen two protests staged by the residents demanding PMC water supply, better access roads, effective waste management, basic amenities, etc from PMC and PMRDA.
