Pune: No Home Voting For Citizens Above 85 In PCMC Polls; Special Booth Facilities Announced For Smooth Voting
Pune, January 14, 2026: Senior citizens above the age of 85 will not be eligible for home voting in the upcoming Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections, marking a key change from the last Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. The Election Commission has clarified that elderly voters must visit polling stations in person to cast their vote.
To ensure a smooth and accessible voting experience, the administration has announced a range of special facilities for senior citizens, differently-abled voters, pregnant women, and mothers with infants. Officials have assured that despite the withdrawal of home voting, adequate arrangements are in place to prevent inconvenience on polling day.
A total of 4,001 polling stations have been established across Pimpri Chinchwad. These centres have been strategically placed to ensure voters can reach polling booths close to their residences.

Accessibility and Support Services
All polling stations have been equipped with ramps, enabling smooth entry for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Wheelchairs will be available at each booth for those requiring mobility support.
Senior citizens and differently-abled voters will receive priority entry, allowing them to vote without standing in long queues. Pregnant women and mothers with small children will also be provided separate seating areas and exemptions from waiting in queues to ensure a comfortable experience.
Basic Amenities Ensured
The administration has confirmed that every polling station will have electricity, clean drinking water, toilets, and shade arrangements. Considering weather fluctuations, primary health facilities have also been set up at key locations.
Authorities have appealed to all eligible voters—especially senior citizens—to participate actively in the democratic process and make use of the facilities arranged at the booths.
