Pimpri, January 14, 2026: With the aim of ensuring that the festival of democracy goes beyond voting and promotes social, environmental, and civic responsibility, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a unique initiative this year. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Election Officer Shravan Hardikar, the civic body has set up eight innovative, environment-friendly polling booths across the city, conveying messages of nature conservation, cleanliness, health, and sustainable development. Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor stated that these booths reflect a harmonious blend of eco-friendly thinking, civic responsibility, and democratic values.

Polling for the PCMC General Elections 2026 will be held on January 15, 2026, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. One innovative polling booth has been established in each of the corporation’s eight ward offices, making a total of eight such booths. Trupti Sandbhor inspected these polling booths on Wednesday and instructed officials to ensure that all necessary facilities are provided to voters.

The innovative booths focus on themes such as solar energy, green polling stations, wet and dry waste segregation, Stay Fit, RRR (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse), Save Water, Clean Air Action Plan (GRAP), and Panchatatva (five elements). Each booth has been creatively decorated with information panels and awareness messages to educate voters on environmental and social responsibility.

Specific themes have been implemented at different locations, including solar energy at Akurdi, green living at Chinchwad, waste segregation at Moshi, sustainable development at Chikhali, fitness and water conservation at Pimple Saudagar, clean air awareness at Thergaon, women empowerment, and ecological balance at Kasarwadi.

The initiative aims to instill a sense of environmental and social responsibility among voters while exercising their democratic right. PCMC has appealed to citizens to participate in large numbers on January 15 and help strengthen democracy.

“The PCMC Elections 2026 are not just about voting but also an opportunity to create awareness about environmental responsibility, cleanliness, health, and sustainable development. These theme-based innovative polling booths have been set up with that objective,”

“Through innovative polling booths, effective awareness is being created on themes like solar energy, green living, waste segregation, water conservation, and Panchatatva. The main objective is to offer voters a meaningful and positive voting experience while promoting eco-friendly values,”
