In a shocking incident of betrayal, an office boy capitalised on the trust placed in him by his employer and made away with a sum of Rs 9 lakh from the employer’s residence in Kondhwa. The incident transpired on a Friday, leaving the victim in disbelief.

According to the police, the complainant, Irfan Momin (37), who resides in the Mayfair Eleganza Phase 2 housing society in Kondhwa, holds the role of a real estate agent. His firm’s office is situated in the Pulgate area. Around three years ago, he employed Altaf Sai, also known as Raju (28), hailing from Bihar, to work as his office boy.

The accused, Raju, shared a seemingly trustworthy rapport with the complainant, Momin. Over time, Momin had confided various financial responsibilities to Raju, granting him access to sensitive financial matters. With insight into financial transactions and an understanding of the complainant’s financial particulars, Raju had gained considerable familiarity.

On August 18, the accused concluded his routine duties at the Pulgate office before being assigned the task of cleaning Momin’s residence in Kondhwa during the afternoon hours between 1:15 pm and 3:00 pm.

Seizing this opportunity, Raju brazenly pocketed a substantial sum of Rs 9 lakh stored within a secure compartment and disappeared without a trace. The discovery of the theft prompted Momin to report the incident to the local police.

Suspected of having retreated to his wife’s village following recent nuptials, Raju’s whereabouts remain uncertain. The investigation into the matter is being diligently pursued by Police Inspector Hasina Sheikh of the Kondhwa police station.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and thorough employee background checks to avert such unfortunate instances of breach of trust.
