Devotees throngs to have darshan of 3 Jyotirlingas in Marathwada region

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, August 21 : Thousands of devotees in Maharashtra state gathered for blessings of three Shiva Jyotirlingas in Marathwada region on Monday, marking the first Shravan Somvar.

Reports from the respective Jyotirlingas stated that at Ellora in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts, special arrangements have been made for darshan of the Ghrishneshwar’ temple, about 35 km away from here. Authorities expected that above 2 lakh devotees would likely visit for darshan.


The historic Ellora heritage is known for its world famous number 16 ‘Kailash Cave’ near the Ghrushneswar Joytirlinga. Police have diverted heavy traffic passing by the temple in view of a possible rush of devotees for darshan.


A report from Beed district stated that long queues were seen in front of the Parli-Vaijnath’ Jyotirlinga Temple in Parli tehsil of the district since the wee hours of today (one of 12 Jyotirlingas in the country).

While the same scene was witnessed at ‘Aundha Nagnath’, in Aundha tehsil of Hingoli district, in the third Jyotirlinga in Marathwada. ‘Shivalingas’ were worshipped on the auspicious festival, and special ‘poojas’ and ‘Abhisheks’ were performed on the occasion.


Heavy security arrangements have been made by police to cope with the extra rush of devotees and avoid any untoward incident on the premises of all these temples, the report added. 

While the Nag Panchami festival is also being celebrated across the region on Monday.
