The consumers of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) are preferring to pay electricity bills online. As per information, during the last one year, an increase of 3,05,300 was seen as customers preferred to pay their electricity bills online in Pune Circle alone. Presently, 21,38,350 consumers are paying electricity bills worth around Rs 559 crore per month through ‘online’ mode.

As per information from Mahavitaran, an average of 28,70, 989 consumers of low-pressure category household, commercial, industrial and others pay electricity bills every month. 74.5 percent of them i.e. 21,38,348 consumers are paying electricity bills through ‘online’ mode in Pune. Compared to 2022, the number of customers for ‘online’ has increased by 3,05,000 in the year 2023.

Rajendra Pawar, Chief Engineer, Mahavitaran (Pune Circle) said, “The online service is very important in customer service in line with Mahavitaran’s modern lifestyle. It is getting a good response from the people of Pune. The minimum electricity bill payment through ‘RTGS’ or ‘NEFT’ has been increased to a certain amount, and the bank account details of MSEDCL are provided on electricity bills exceeding Rs 5,000.” 

In Pune, the number of customers who opted for online mode has increased by 1, 46,300 and the payment amount has also increased by Rs 59 crore 31 lakh. At present, an average of 11, 80,191 domestic, commercial, industrial and other consumers are paying electricity bills amounting to Rs 295 crore per month through online mode.

An average of 7,04,763 low-pressure electricity consumers are paying electricity bills every month in Pimpri Chinchwad city. Out of that 5, 63, 85 (80 per cent) customers are paying Rs 151 crore 76 lakh per month through online mode. In the year 2023, this number of customers has increased by 81, 180 and the amount of ‘online’ electricity bill payment has increased by 35 crore 74 thousand rupees.

In the rural areas of Ambegaon, Junnar, Maval, Khed, Mulshi, Velhe, and Haveli talukas, 3, 95,074 out of 5, 63, 344 electricity consumers are paying electricity bills of Rs 111 crore 35 lakh through online mode. In the year 2023, the number of customers has increased by 77, 811 and the payment amount has increased by 33 crore 15 lakh rupees.

A 0.25% discount on monthly electricity bills is being given to low-voltage consumers if they pay electricity bills online through credit/debit card, UPI, BHIM, internet banking, or mobile wallet up to a limit of Rs 500 per month.
