Pune: The Empress Botanical Garden organized a painting and calligraphy competition for children on Sunday, January 12, 2025. The event saw enthusiastic participation from around 900 to 1,000 children, who showcased their creativity and enjoyed the competition.

This annual event, hosted by the Empress Botanical Garden, offered free entry to participants. The competition was divided into two age groups: 5-10 years and 11-15 years. For the younger group, themes like “Flower Pot,” “Clock,” and “My Favorite Animal” were given, while the older group had to work on themes such as “Different Professions,” “Sunrise/Sunset,” and “Classroom.”

Around 900 to 1,000 students from 11 schools across Pune participated in the competition. The event was attended by notable figures such as Suresh Pingale (Honorary Secretary, Empress Botanical Garden), Anupama Barve (Honorary Joint Secretary), and Yashwant Khaire.

The winners of the competition will be awarded their prizes during the closing ceremony of the Flower Exhibition on January 27, 2025, as informed by Suresh Pingale.
