Pune: Over 2,000 Residents Celebrate Chhath Puja at Rohan Abhilasha, Nurturing Community Bonding and Tradition
In a vibrant celebration of tradition and community, over 2,000 residents gathered to mark Chhath Puja at Rohan Abhilasha this year. Building upon the success of last year’s inaugural event, the festival featured free games for children and tea for all, fostering unity and joy among residents.
How the Celebration Began
The idea to bring Chhath Puja to Rohan Abhilasha was initiated by three committed volunteers: Hridaya Nand Kumar, Ambesh Jha, and Praveen Kumar. Before their efforts, only a few residents celebrated Chhath Puja in the community, with many devotees traveling back to their home states—like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh—to experience the unique atmosphere of the festival.
Recreating a Cultural Experience at Home
Determined to create a similar vibrant ambiance in their own community, these three volunteers aimed to make Rohan Abhilasha a place where residents could experience Chhath Puja with the same excitement and devotion felt along the riverbanks in northeastern India. By organizing games for children and providing refreshments, they sought to immerse the young generation in the cultural beauty of Chhath Puja while strengthening community bonds.
A Growing Collective Effort
What started with three volunteers soon expanded, with more residents joining the initiative to ensure a grand celebration. Devotees gathered in G Block, an ideal spot to witness sunrise and sunset—crucial aspects of the Chhath Puja rituals. With the blessings of Chhathi Maiya, the organizing team grew rapidly, with residents like Rohit, Deepak Singh, Vivek, Subhasis, Abhishek, Vishal, Pankaj, Alok, Chandan, Arvind, Ashish, Rajneesh, and many others contributing to the event’s success.
A Lasting Tradition
The celebration, enriched by the dedication of residents deeply rooted in the Chhath Puja tradition, has now become a cherished annual event at Rohan Abhilasha. With overwhelming support and enthusiasm, the community is committed to continuing this grand celebration every year, spreading joy, unity, and cultural pride within Rohan Abhilasha.
