Pune Palkhi 2025: Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Arrives In Pimpri Chinchwad, Welcomed With Devotion And Eco-Friendly Initiatives
Pimpri-Chinchwad, June 19, 2025: Amid chants of “Dnyanoba-Tukaram” and gentle showers, the Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Ashadhi Wari Palkhi entered Pimpri-Chinchwad city, filling the atmosphere with spiritual fervor. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), under the leadership of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, extended a warm welcome to the dindi at Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi.
MLAs Uma Khapre and Mahesh Landge, along with senior civic officials including Additional Commissioners, Engineers, Medical Officers, and Ward Officers, were present to oversee arrangements. A large number of citizens and social activists also participated in the welcome event.
Following tradition, dindi leaders were felicitated with cloth bags, first aid kits, contact directories, flower garlands, sacred coconuts, and seed packets. The PCMC also organized green initiatives such as tree plantations and eco-awareness drives to promote a plastic-free, environment-friendly wari.
Students and teachers of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan presented devotional abhangs. Commissioner Shekhar Singh, dressed in traditional attire, actively participated in the festivities, enjoying pakhawaj performances and folk dances.
Extensive arrangements including water tankers, toilets, medical facilities, ambulances, and fire safety vehicles were deployed. Special coordinators were assigned to each halt location to ensure smooth service delivery for the warkaris during their stay at schools and community spaces across the city.
