Pune: Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Luxury Bus On Katraj–Kondhwa Road In Pisoli
Pune, April 18, 2026: A 35-year-old man died after being struck by a private luxury bus on the Katraj–Kondhwa Road near Pisoli on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Arjun Mhaske, a daily wage worker and resident of Katraj.
The accident occurred around 1 pm when Mhaske was crossing the road. Police said the incident took place when the bus was making a turn and the driver allegedly failed to notice the pedestrian in time.
Sub-Inspector Anil Nimbalkar from Kalepadal Police Station is investigating the incident. The bus was heading towards Phursungi and during a right turn, the rear portion of the vehicle hit Mhaske. He was thrown onto the road and sustained severe injuries.
Local passersby rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured man to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
Following the incident, police registered a case against the bus driver for rash and negligent driving, as well as causing death by negligence. Authorities have taken the vehicle into custody for further investigation.
The case has raised concerns over road safety on busy stretches like the Katraj–Kondhwa corridor, where heavy traffic and frequent turning movements often pose risks to pedestrians.
Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
