Pune, November 20, 2025: The Petrol Dealers Association – Pune has confirmed that the city’s Police Commissioner has called an urgent high-level meeting to address mounting safety and security challenges faced by petrol pump dealers across the district. The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, will bring together senior police officials and representatives of the Association to discuss actionable solutions to protect fuel stations, their staff, and public property.

A delegation from the Association’s Working Committee, representing nearly 850 petrol pump dealers in Pune district, will participate in the review meeting. According to the Association, dealers have been increasingly concerned about incidents and threats at fuel stations, prompting the need for immediate intervention and stronger enforcement measures. The delegation plans to push for concrete, time-bound steps to enhance the safety framework for employees and owners.

Ahead of the meeting, the Petrol Dealers Association – Pune issued a clarification regarding certain statements recently seen in the media. The Association stated that several comments circulating under its name were neither authorised nor issued by its members. The Association urged media organisations and the public to rely exclusively on verified statements released through its official communication channels. For the past 50 years, the Petrol Dealers Association – Pune has been the only recognised and mandated body representing petrol pump operators in the district, and all formal updates continue to be issued solely through authorised representatives.

Reiterating its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted fuel supply to the public, the Association emphasised that safeguarding the wellbeing of petrol pump employees and dealers remains its highest priority. It noted that staff continue to work under challenging circumstances, and the upcoming dialogue with senior police authorities is expected to deliver practical security enhancements.

The Association added that further updates will be issued only through official channels to ensure clarity and avoid the spread of misinformation.
