Pune PG Owner Arrested for Allegedly Molesting Intoxicated Woman, Police Investigation Underway
Pune: 72 Year Old Man Arrested For Molesting 13 Year Old Girl In Mohamadwadi
An alarming incident has come to light in Pune’s Balaji Nagar area, where a woman staying at a PG accommodation reportedly faced sexual harassment in a vulnerable state. The accused, the PG owner, allegedly took advantage of the woman when she was intoxicated, prompting police action and an ongoing investigation.
According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Tirumala, also known as Raghurao Tirum Laya Kotha, 35, a resident of Balaji Nagar, Ghorpadi. The complainant is a 24-year-old working professional residing in the PG.
The incident is said to have occurred around 12:30 am on December 12. The woman had attended a party with friends and reportedly became heavily intoxicated. Concerned about her state, her friends brought her back to the PG but allegedly left her on the staircase instead of ensuring she safely reached her room.
It was at this vulnerable moment that the PG owner allegedly approached her from behind, forcibly hugged her, and attempted to indecently assault her with the intention of outraging her modesty. The victim stated in her complaint that the incident caused her significant mental trauma and humiliation.
Following the complaint, Chandan Nagar Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Assistant Police Inspector Salve, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that statements from witnesses are being recorded and evidence is being collected to strengthen the case.
The accused has been booked, and further legal proceedings are pending the outcome of the investigation. Authorities have emphasized that strict action will be taken if the allegations are substantiated, highlighting that crimes against women will not be tolerated, regardless of the perpetrator’s position.
