Pune: A 48- year-old businessman was tricked by six scammers as they promised to double his investments by asking him to invest in supermarkets and mini supermarkets. The businessman lost Rs 36 lakh in the scam. The incident took place in the span of 10 months from October 2021 to April 2022 in Pimple Saudagar. The victim has been identified as Deepak Bhanudas Ghorpade, a resident of Pimple Saudagar.

As per information, the accused, acting as directors of two companies, conveyed various schemes to the complainant regarding the establishment of a supermarket and a mini supermarket. They lured the complainant by promising lucrative returns of Rs 1 lakh for a period of 35 months, Rs 60,000 in a period of 30 months, and five per cent on each sale made at the supermarket and the mini supermarket. The accused took Rs 36 lakh as an investment from the complainant. However, when the complainant failed to receive any return on investment and was not provided with his invested amount, he became suspicious and filed a complaint.

Ghorpade has complained to the Sangavi police station. The police have registered a case against Mukesh Kumar Tyagi, Mohammad Faizan Khan, Sachin Ramchandra Suryavanshi, Santosh Rajaram Pawar, Anil Kashiram Jadhav and a woman.
