Pune : PMC brings down 1500 unauthorised hoardings from city amidst police protection

Pune: In the wake of a recent accident in Ravet, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a campaign against illegal hoardings in Pune. The action against unauthorized hoardings in the municipal limits has been intensified and with the help of the police administration will be taken so that there is no obstacle in the action.

The decision was taken after a meeting was held by the Additional Commissioner with regional office officials in the Municipal Corporation.

The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of the zone were also present at the meeting, where strategies to curb the issue of hoardings were discussed at length. The campaign aims to ensure the safety of citizens by reducing the number of hoardings that pose a threat to public health.

“Under police protection the action is being taken. Whereas until now over 1,500 unauthorised hoardings are removed and around 1,500 hoardings more will be removed,” said Madhav Jagtap, head of Sky and Sign department, PMC.

There are as many as 3900 official and unofficial hoardings in the city, and the issue of their safety has come to the fore. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation has also directed the hoarding owners to submit a report or else the hoardings will be declared unauthorised.
