Pune, June 1, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collected over ₹1,200 crore in property tax revenue within the first two months of the 2026-27 financial year, reflecting a strong response from citizens to the civic body’s early payment rebate scheme.

According to the Tax Assessment and Collection Department, PMC had announced a 5% to 10% rebate on property tax for citizens who paid their dues within the stipulated period. Property owners who cleared their taxes by May 31, 2026, were eligible to avail of the concession.

PMC records show that the city has approximately 15.05 lakh taxable properties. Between April 1 and May 31, 2026 (up to 9:50 pm), a total of 6,44,174 property owners paid their taxes, contributing ₹1,200.47 crore to the municipal treasury.

Of the total collections, 68,501 property owners (10.60%) paid ₹314.93 crore through cheque payments, while 1,02,691 property owners (15.09%) deposited ₹95.43 crore in cash.

Digital transactions dominated the payment mode, with 4,75,372 citizens (73.50%) opting for online and digital payment platforms. These transactions accounted for ₹790.11 crore of the total property tax collection.

PMC officials stated that the strong response to digital payment options highlights the growing acceptance of online civic services among Pune residents. The property tax collections are expected to strengthen the municipal body’s financial position and support ongoing infrastructure and public service projects across the city.
