World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5th. This year, Pune will observe Environment Week from June 5th to June 12th, 2024. Various organizations across the city are organizing events to engage citizens in environmental activities. The main venue for these events is Indradhanushya, Navi Peth, Pune.


The week will start with an inauguration ceremony by the Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner of PMC. Activities include talks, performances, and exhibitions focused on environmental themes.

Key programs include:
-Water Conservation and Dam Desilting: Col. Suresh Patil will discuss methods and benefits.
– Pune Samwad Joshi Gangotri Chanda:A local initiative with discussions on environmental issues.
-Earth and Environment: This segment features poems, songs, skits, stand-up performances, and dances centered on environmental themes.


– Let us Talk about Forests in Maharashtra: Nandini Devi Pant Pratinidhi will speak about the state’s forests.
– Climate Changes in Himalaya:Experts Mr. Umesh Zirpe and Vivek Shivade will address climate changes in the Himalayas.
– Film Screening and Exhibition on Climate: Organized by SWACH Cooperative Pune, this event focuses on climate issues.
– Condition of Honey Bees in the City:** Bee Basket will discuss the current state of honey bees, how to avoid bee stings, and best practices for coexisting with bees.
– Wildlife in Pune District: Anuj K and his team will lead a nature walk to explore local wildlife.
– Ground Water:Dr. Reddy from GSDA will speak on groundwater conservation.
– Man-made Greenery: LLCP and CCPEF will present on creating and maintaining urban green spaces.
Citizens of Pune are encouraged to participate actively in these events to promote environmental awareness and action.
