Pune: PMC Launches Helpline To Report About Potholes In City
In response to the numerous potholes that have appeared on Pune’s roads due to ongoing digging up and continuous rainfall, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a large-scale pothole-filling campaign. This information was released in a press note by the Road Department of Pune Municipal Corporation.
The city’s Road Department took advantage of the dry weather over the weekend to address this pressing issue. The campaign, which started on Saturday night and continued through Sunday and Monday nights, saw engineers working tirelessly to fill potholes and conduct necessary patchwork. Led by the Chief Engineer (Roads), the team focused on using concrete (cement) for most of the repairs, although asphalt was also used for some patchwork.
Here are the highlights of the work done over the three nights:
– Total potholes filled: 1,224
– Total patchworks completed: 153
– Total concrete used: 363 cubic meters
– Total asphalt used: 256.5 metric tons
The PMC has emphasized the importance of these efforts in preventing inconvenience to motorists and avoiding traffic congestion. Moving forward, priority will be given to resurfacing roads that are severely affected.
To ensure timely action, citizens are encouraged to report any potholes to the Road Department via helpline numbers 020-25501083 and 9043271003 (WhatsApp).
