In a collaborative effort between the Khadki Cantonment Board and Pune Municipal Corporation, an impactful anti-encroachment drive unfolded at Sai Chowk on Aundh Road in Range Hills on January 12, 2024.

In a joint initiative by the Khadki Cantonment Board and Pune Municipal Corporation, a successful anti-encroachment drive was conducted at Sai Chowk on Aundh Road in Range Hills on January 12, 2024. The operation, addressing the long-standing issue of traffic congestion caused by 44 encroaching stalls at the crucial junction, witnessed the collaborative efforts of both local bodies.

Sai Chowk, situated behind the Khadki railway station and falling within the jurisdiction of Khadki Cantonment and Pune Municipal Corporation, serves as a vital junction for residents of Aundh and Bopodi, contributing to its status as a high-traffic zone. The encroachment of these stalls had been a persistent concern, resulting in substantial traffic congestion.

Prompted by multiple complaints received by Pune District Collector, joint instructions from Khadki Cantonment Board and Pune Municipal Corporation were issued to address the issue. Seeking cooperation, Khadki Cantonment CEO Robin Baleja reached out to Pune Municipal Corporation, leading to a joint operation executed today.

Under the guidance of Additional PMC Commissioner Vikas Dhakane, all 44 encroaching stalls were successfully removed, relieving Sai Chowk from congestion. As part of the ongoing efforts to alleviate traffic issues, the accessible road will undergo immediate widening through asphalt work tonight. The existing 12-meter-wide road is set to expand to approximately 24 meters, providing significant relief to the persistent traffic congestion in the area.
