21 e-vehicle charging stations inaugurated by PMC; more to come soon

21 E-vehicle charging stations were inaugurated on Friday, January 12 at 12.00 pm by Vikram Kumar, Pune Municipal Commissioner (PMC).

As per information, electric vehicle charging stations, based on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, will be set up at 82 places (office buildings, parking areas, parks, museums, auditoriums, hospitals etc) within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation for the convenience of citizens. The duration of the said project is 8 years.

Out of the said 82 places, all the works have been completed at the following 21 places:

The said charging stations can be used by citizens from the Play Store or scan the QR code on each charging station. By downloading the Bijlify App and entering your mobile number, you can register. The vehicle charging rates are Rs 13 to Rs 19 per unit which are less than the rates of private charging stations. Hence, the Pune Municipal Corporation is urging all citizens to take advantage of this state-of-the-art service.

Implementation of the “Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021” in Maharashtra is under consideration by the government. For this, the objective is to adopt sustainable and pollution-free E-vehicles in the state, to make the state a leader in the use of e-vehicles in the country and to maintain the state’s prominent position in vehicle production in India.

As per information from PMC, through Pune Municipal Corporation’s Electricity Department, tenders were invited for setting up EV charging stations.

Accordingly, the concerned contractor shall be responsible for the following:

1) Entire electricity cost of public charging stations (PCS).

2) Safety and security of vehicles using the charging facility

3) Complete maintenance of the project for 8 years
