The preparations for the construction of a flyover on the railway track at Koregaon Park have been initiated by the municipal corporation.

Prior to commencing the work, it is necessary to divert the bridge that connects the two sections of the city. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has made the decision to commence the bridge work starting in the upcoming week.

As per the information provided, at present, the Sadhu Vaswani flyover on the railway route connects Koregaon Park to the Pune Cantonment Board area (the new circuit house). The bridge was closed for heavy traffic last year. The civic body is planning to construct a four-lane bridge at the site.

The civic body will spend Rs 83 crore on the project, and the tender process for the bridge has also been completed.

As per the information received, the construction of the bridge has been granted a budget of Rs 20 crore by the civic body. The bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the vicinity of the new circuit house. The traffic authorities have requested the diversion of traffic in order to facilitate the bridge construction. A decision regarding this matter is anticipated within the upcoming week.

The planned flyover possesses several notable features. Firstly, the cost of constructing this bridge amounts to Rs 83 crore. Additionally, a significant portion of Rs 20 crore has been allocated specifically for this year’s budget. In terms of dimensions, the proposed bridge will span a length of 640 meters. Furthermore, the total width of the bridge measures 17.150 metres, while its height reaches 6.90 metres.
