In anticipation of the upcoming Rakshabandhan festival on August 30, 2023, PMPML (Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited) has unveiled plans to enhance its bus services, ensuring hassle-free commuting for the residents of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

As part of their preparations, PMPML aims to go beyond their usual daily bus operations, recognizing the substantial increase in travelers during the Rakshabandhan celebrations. To accommodate this surge in demand, PMPML intends to deploy an additional fleet of buses alongside their regular lineup of 1837 buses.

Historically, Rakshabandhan witnesses a significant rise in travel activity, prompting PMPML to orchestrate an extended fleet of 1933 buses this year. This move translates to an augmentation of 96 extra buses specifically for the festive occasion.

These supplementary buses are scheduled to be dispatched from major bus terminals such as Katraj, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Saswad, Hadapsar, Wagholi, Jejuri, Alandi, Bhosari, Talegaon, Rajgurunagar, and Dehugaon, aiming to alleviate congestion and provide accessible travel options.

To facilitate this initiative, PMPML has canceled the weekly offs for drivers, carriers, and supervisory staff. Furthermore, dedicated personnel have been appointed to oversee and manage bus traffic at critical junctions and stations, ensuring a smooth and organized travel experience.

The festival, falling on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, necessitates the deployment of these extra buses not only on the day itself but also on the following day, August 31, 2023. To assist passengers, PMPML has tasked their officers, clerks, and other staff members with aiding travelers at key stations and stops.

PMPML encourages all commuters to make the most of this expanded bus service during the festive period. By bolstering their transportation offerings, PMPML aims to provide a convenient and efficient travel experience for all passengers.
