The Maha Metro is stepping up efforts to improve feeder connectivity in Pune. After the launch of a new service from Ramwadi Metro station to Lohegaon Airport, officials are looking to extend feeder bus services from more stations.

Since August last year, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has been operating feeder buses from Civil Court, Nal Stop, and Garware College stations. However, due to poor response, the number of trips was reduced and eventually halted.

Currently, Maha Metro aims to reschedule these services to better serve commuters and increase the use of feeder buses by easy facilitation. Regular travellers suggest deploying smaller buses during rush hours to connect nearby areas like Karvenagar and Prabhat Road from Nal Stop station.

The call for improved connectivity also includes conducting a study of routes within 3-4 kilometres from the Metro stations to optimize services.

Additionally, Maha Metro plans to introduce share-an-auto services at Metro stations. This decision follows discussions between a city-based forum, autorickshaw unions, and Metro officials, aiming to enhance convenience for commuters.

The extension of the feeder bus route from Ramwadi Metro Station to Lohegaon Airport has already led to increased daily footfall. With these initiatives, Maha Metro seeks to further facilitate easy access to Metro stations and streamline transportation for residents and visitors alike in Pune.
