Pune: PMPML’s Apli App Gets Mixed Response From Commuters
The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited’s (PMPML) newly launched mobile app, Apli PMPML, has received a mixed bag of reactions from commuters, with some hailing it as a game-changer while others have criticized its user-unfriendly interface. On one hand, the app has been praised for its features like online ticket and pass purchasing, which have made commuting more convenient for some. Santosh Pandhare, a resident of Raviwar Peth, appreciated the app’s ability to track bus locations and arrival times, which helped him avoid a long wait in the rain.
On the other hand, many commuters have expressed frustration with the app’s complexity. A passenger pointed out that the journey planner is confusing, and the app’s assumption of familiarity with bus numbers can be a barrier for many users.
Furthermore, some have highlighted the app’s limited accessibility, as it is currently only available in English. A Kondhwa resident, noted that many commuters may not be comfortable with English or familiar with smartphone technology, limiting the app’s usefulness.
Despite the mixed response, PMPML officials remain optimistic, with over 1 lakh downloads in just over a week. The utility hopes to address user concerns and improve the app’s functionality to make it more inclusive and user-friendly.
