PUNE – Authorities are searching for a 20-year-old woman police constable who reportedly jumped into the Indrayani River in Alandi, Pune district, on Sunday evening. The missing constable, identified as Anushka Kedar, had allegedly informed a friend about her intention to end her life before the incident.

The situation is complicated by high water levels in the river due to dam discharge, which is hampering search efforts. Anushka Kedar, who was recently posted with the Pune rural police headquarters, had jumped from the bridge on Chakan Road around 5:20 PM.

Constable Anushka Kedar called a friend and mentioned she was ending her life before she jumped into the river. The police had dispatched a team immediately, and search operations are underway with the assistance of divers and Fire Brigade personnel. The high water levels are presenting significant challenges.

Kedar, a native of Beed district, had just completed her training and joined the Pune rural police force. Her father is employed as a driver with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident and are working to determine the underlying causes.
