Pimpri, July 5, 2025: The PMRDA has registered four cases at the Hinjawadi Police Station against those responsible for causing emergency flood situations and encroaching illegally on natural streams and drains. 

Landowners and business operators who conspired to construct unauthorized structures in the natural flow channels of water have been booked in this major action led by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

Recently, unauthorized constructions and obstruction of natural water flow in the Hinjawadi, Maan, and Marunji areas led to flooding. In response, on Friday evening, four FIRs were registered at Hinjawadi Police Station against individuals and establishments that built illegal structures on or near drain beds, under the directives of PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase.

Locations Where Cases Were Filed: 

At Hinjawadi Gat No. 262, Pankaj Sakhare (landowner), Gurukrupa Motors, Mahavir Courier Services, City Cell, and Hotel Mayuri (developers) constructed illegally in the natural drain areas.

At Gat Nos. 152, 263, Shashikant Sakhare and Shalivahan Sakhare (landowners), Vitthal Tadkewar, and Gurukrupa Bangles Store (developers) were booked. At Gat No. 262, Pankaj Sakhare (landowner), a government-approved toddy shop, and a scrap shop (developers) were also booked. 

Similarly, at Gat Nos. 152 and 263, Shalivahan Sakhare (landowner), Hina Chicken, and a washing center were found to have built unauthorized structures on the drains. FIRs were filed under relevant legal provisions.

Demolition of Unauthorized Buildings: 

In Marunji, PMRDA’s Illegal Constructions and Demolition Department has been actively demolishing unauthorized buildings over the past few days. The demolition of Parihar’s G+8, Bhisen’s G+4, and Chakale’s G+2 structures in Gat No. 45/1/2 has been completed. Work to demolish Chaudhary’s G+5 building is ongoing. Meanwhile, demolition of Dr. Khenat’s G+5 structure was halted by a court order after 20% of the building had already been razed. Further action will be taken once subsequent orders are received.
